Meet your Educator, Linda Loft

Linda Loft, NZRN

Casting

Linda Loft is a registered nurse based in Auckland. She has more than four decades of experience as a senior nurse in a number of busy emergency departments, fracture clinics and medical centres within city of Auckland.

Specialising in Achilles tendon injury casting, Linda is one of the few people in the country who applies walking irons to an Achilles cast to allow a patient to independently mobilise without crutches.

For the last 10 years, she has supported a large group of industry-leading orthopedic surgeons based in central Auckland. Here, as the sole practice nurse she continues to share her passion and expertise for casting, including the unique skill of tailoring casting to suit specific injuries or surgery.

With the use of dedicated plastering departments in large hospitals today, casting is in danger of becoming a dying art. Linda’s training is intended to equip you with the know-how and confidence to support your patients in your clinical setting with the injuries, breaks and fractures that are presented to you.
